On August 6, 2023, Tina McGarth (Joliet County Moms for America Group Leader) and her group members participated in the community-based Crossroads Parade in Shorewood, Illinois. The theme of the parade was “A Night at the Movies”, so naturally they went with ‘Top Gun’. The reasoning behind this was to incorporate the Moms for America position on patriotism and supporting the military. The float was a jet plane, which included the names of Goose and Maverick from the movie.

All the moms and kids signed the float, and they even had boy scouts from a neighboring float sign it. The boy scouts were very happy to do so! There were hundreds of people lined up along the parade route and their float got the loudest cheers. Tina quoted, “It was very encouraging and a wonderful way to share who we are as an organization.”

On October 3, 2023, Tina McGrath (Joilet County Moms for America in Illinois) took a stand at the Joilet Council Meeting about an 8.6-million-dollar grant that would be used for noncitizens to be transferred to Joilet and to be housed and care for out of the taxpayer’s pocket. Tina mentioned her involvement about Moms for America and how she is proud to be an American and that she was there to protect their rights before all else. Later, on October 10, 2023, Tina and two of her group members (Katie Deane and Jen Monson) spoke about their concerns and brought facts to the table at the Township meeting. After both the council meeting and Township meeting the 8.6-million-dollar grant was withdrawn. Tina mentioned that without her group from Moms for America gathering and spreading the information about the grant and setting up a rally for people to be at these meetings, this grant may have passed.

There they were able to pass out candy to hundreds of children and speak to the moms about Moms for America.

Early in December, Tina McGarth (Joliet County Moms for America) led her group as well as the group in Will County to put out a call to sponsor a family of five in need. The response was overwhelming, because of the kindness and generosity of all who participated, these Moms for America groups were able to buy winter coats, gloves, blankets, pajamas, clothes, toys and toiletries for each family member including the mom. Hundreds of dollars in grocery gifts cards were also donated. Thank you to Tina and these wonderful groups that spent hours organizing, shopping, making calls, picking up gifts from people who bought them, and spending hours upon hours of wrapping gifts. Also, a special thanks to all who donated to make sure this family will have a wonderful Christmas!

On January 2nd, 2023, Group Leader Tina McGrath (Joliet Moms for America) and two other ladies from her group, Jen Monson and Katie Deane-Schlottman came to speak and show their support of the 725-23 Ordinance Amending Sections of Chapter 19 to Address Unscheduled Intercity Bus Drop Offs and Impoundment of Vehicles Used in Violation of Code. Tina mentioned how she was a member of Moms for America and how they helped a family for Christmas with what they needed during that season. She used this example to explain that they need to keep supporting actions that will use their tax money to help individuals in their community first.
